Wish Upon A Star

I have a small black bag filled with powder, well more like dust really. A magic kind of dust squeezed from the wings of pixies and fairies. A quick pinch of dust liberally sprinkled over your hair and viola … you now get one wish. You can have anything you want, but only one thing, and only for one night. What would you wish for? If you could have/do/experience just one thing before your old clock runs out, what would it be?

It’s an interesting question. Mostly because you only get it for one day, one night, one rotation of the Earth.

You can wish for riches, but they’ll evaporate at midnight. And what would you buy anyways … for a day...
You can wish for fame, but you turn back into Cinderella … or Cinderfella … when the clock strikes 12.

All surface pleasures just seem unimportant when you’ve only got 24 hours to go.
If you’re ill, you’d probably wish to be well, just for a day.
If you miss someone you’d probably wish they were back in your life, if only for a day.
If there was one decision in your life you could re-live, you’d probably think differently, if only for that turn of the clock.

So here’s my question: “Can you live tomorrow, and take one quick moment, one quick breath, and wish upon a star?” Can you take today and see if there’s something you’re going to wish for many years from now, when you really only have 24 hours left, and not just wish upon a star, but rather make that dream come true?

Waiting to get your answers :) :)

hmmm I'd wish for a Groundhog day scenario where I lived the same day over and over and over again. There my clock wouldn't run out. Or wish for something that grants me more wishes. Or wish to go to the future to stop my clock from stopping with technology or something. Or wish for the aliens to save me. hahaha see lots of ways around the 24 hour clock.

interesting!

even though the power is for one day, the impact of what you do that day can last for ages...so why not change our system, or punish all the corrupts?
but that would be lot of work...i would rather spend it with my family in the most beautiful place in this universe....

an interesting thought for sure...any wish seems to have its drawback...and world peace sounds cliche...a long and happy life among those that love me maybe...

I would wish for one wish every day for the rest of my life:) Smart eh?:P No? Okie *puppyface*

On a serious note, I honestly don't know what I'd wish for... Maybe to live my whole life in that one day?

it may sound impossible but when you have got the powers to relive the life even for a limited period, given the opportunity i would not only relive the moment which changed my life due to my fault but will also rewrite it and make amends for all time to follow...

Hi Madhulika,

I have had to think a few days before I could answer this one. You are so good about making us think before we just write any comment.

My first thought has pretty much stayed the same but I have modified it a little.

My wish would be to spend the day with the first leaders of different religious philosophies. Being a Christian, I would definitely wish to spend time with Jesus, but I also would want to meet many others. I do not even know if I would have any specific questions to ask, but I think just meeting them would be so amazing. Although if I were to meet a certain leader I would definitely want to ask him about this fear that many of his followers have of women and why they believe women are possessions instead of equals. Yes, I believe I would have the most questions to ask of him while the others I am thinking, that just looking upon them would be enough, but talking to them would be great.

Although I am thinking that wishing to have another wish every day is a good idea too but only if I could always look young and beautiful. But then I think that I would run out of wishes and it would be such a boring life to constantly make wishes, so maybe my first one is not so bad.

You are such a thinker and making us think with you is no small task, are you sure you are not making wishes?

God bless.

it will aggravate yur pain afterwards..dont u think so?

This is a very interesting question to reflect on but a difficult answer to give.
I would wish I didn't spend so much time worrying about nothing and I would probably spend the night writing love notes to the ones who would stay behind, facing the sea.

this may sound strange .. I would not wish for anything liek that For I am happy the way I am for the days that have gone by and for the days that will come .. Thats the best part I dont know about that..
if I wish and i know i will getthen whats the fun in that .. its the unexpected

and when its 24 hours left to die.. i would only want to see the people who care for me and that they have a smile on their face that thought that they know me ..

a very intriguing notion. we do build toward something, but that means constant intention, i think, as well as hard work. seems quite possible.

i'd wish to spend a day with my dad, who died seven years ago. that's easy.

my wish is the brokenness in every person - the rape, incest, cruel voices, neglect, and hate will be healed for 24 hours, experience true peace. at first my wish was for Cinderellas only, then i realized that the men - the Cinderfellas - need respite from their burdens as well.
